Welcome to the ‘Mediterranean Blast Furnaces’ (Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo) at Segunto in Spain!
Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo SA (also known by the acronym AHM) was a steel company formed in 1971 to exploit the integrated steel plant in Sagunto. It was formed from the premises of Altos Hornos de Vizcaya SA in Puerto de Sagunto .
Despite many protest actions and fifteen general strikes in 1983 the Spanish Minister of Industry announced the closure of the last remaining blast furnace number two for the 21 of the same month, but it survived as an industrial heritage monument.
